Have you ever considered becoming
a Mason? We'd like a chance to talk with you.
Freemasonry offers much to its members - the opportunity to grow,
the chance to make a difference, to build a better world for our
children. It offers a chance to be with and work with men who have
the same values and ideals.
Inform a Mason
that you are interested
Freemasonry doesn't solicit membership, in fact it is forbidden. An
additional requirement of petitioning for membership is that you be
recommended by two Master Masons. You probably know several Masons.
Perhaps you've seen the Square and Compasses like the one on this
page or on a ring, pin, tie tack, or bumper sticker. If you don't know a Freemason
to talk to about petitioning for membership, please contact the
lodge via email, and brothers will be glad to meet up with you. It's easy to find out more.
Start the process by completing a
petition (application) for
membership, which you can obtain from the lodge secretary, download
below, or get from a Mason you know. If you don’t know a Mason, just
stop by the Lodge building at 216 E. Main St. in West Farmington
about 30 minutes before our regular meetings (1st & 3rd Fridays at
7:30), the Brothers will be happy to meet with you for a short
informational session.
Download a petition
The next step is to submit your
petition to the Lodge. The petition
is read in a Lodge meeting and referred to a committee. This
committee then interviews you, usually right in your home, so that
your family can ask any questions that they may have.
After the interview, the committee reports its findings to the
Lodge, and a secret ballot is taken. If the vote is favorable,
you’ll be notified by mail and you’ll be given a date to start the
degree program.
