Where are we?
Caboolture is the civic centre of a Shire (local government area) of 1228 square kilometres (approximately 500 square miles) with a population of 115,000 persons. Caboolture Shire is on the midpoint of the eastern coast of Australia and stretches from the coast inland to the west of the coastal ranges, and Caboolture town is some 40 kilometres north of Brisbane, the State capital of Queensland. (Queensland is known as the Sunshine State of Australia). Caboolture’s climate is sub-tropical, which means the maximum daytime temperature is usually around 30°C in summer and 20°C in winter. Primary production (fruit and vegetables, dairy products, fishing), light industry, and tourism are well represented, and many residents commute by electric rail or motor vehicle to Brisbane for employment. We love our lifestyle, and are very friendly. Come for a visit, you just might stay forever! |
A great place to visit, a better place to live!!! |
What are we?
Caboolture Chapter was Instituted in November 1951 under the Supreme Grand Chapter of Scotland, having the number of 512 in that jurisdiction. In 1985, Chapters in Australia came under the autonomous control of the United Grand Chapter of Australia, and this Chapter became Caboolture Chapter No 116 (which means that chronologically, it was the 116th Chapter instituted in Australia by Scotland). So you can see, it is easy to remember that part of our history! Our current membership is 54, and we meet monthly (except January) in the Freemasons' Centre, Dux Street, Caboolture. Visiting Sisters and Brothers are always especially welcome. |
What is the Order of the Eastern Star? The Order of the Eastern Star is a non-denominational and non-sectarian organisation, but requires petitioners for membership to signify a belief in a Supreme Being. Its ritual and ceremonies, centring in and radiating from five notable feminine characters of the Bible, are designed to make the most profound and lasting impressions upon all to whom they are addressed. The objects of the Order are to "associate in one common bond the worthy wives, widows, mothers, daughters and sisters of Freemasons to secure to them advantages from a moral, social and charitable point of view, and from them, the performance of corresponding duties". To give practical effect to this concept has been, is, and always will be, the grand purpose and spirit of the Order of the Eastern Star. The unique and intimate relationship of the Eastern Star to Freemasonry is maintained in the requirement that all male members must have a Masonic affiliation, while all female members must be a close and specified relative of a Master Mason. As indicated, the teachings of the Order of the Eastern star recognise the existence of a Supreme Being, and the lessons taught are based upon the Holy Scriptures. The five Degrees of the Order, based on the lives of five biblical heroines, teach five attributes: fidelity, constancy, purity, hope and love. |
