SCHOLARSHIPS



TWO DIFFERENT SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES ARE AVAILABLE THROUGH THE SCOTTISH RITE MASONS OF LOUISIANA.

 

THE FIRST SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY IS PROVIDED TO STUDENTS WITH AN UNDERGRADUATE DEGREE WHO ARE ENROLLED IN A MASTERS PROGRAM FOR SPEECH PATHOLOGY.  A TOTAL OF TEN OF THESE SCHOLARSHIPS ARE AWARDED ANNUALLY (TWO PER SCOTTISH RITE SPEECH CENTER).  EACH STUDENT IS LIMITED TO A CUMULATIVE SUM OF $3000.00 EACH.  PAYMENTS FOR THE SPRING AND FALL SEMESTERS ARE $1250.00 PER SEMESTER.  THE PAYMENT FOR THE SUMMER SEMESTER IS $500.00.  THE SCHOLARSHIPS ARE AWARDED TO STUDENTS ATTENDING UNIVERSITIES WHICH CONTRACT SPEECH PATHOLOGY SERVICES WITH THE LOUISIANA SCOTTISH FOUNDATION, INC.  THROUGH THIS CONTRACTUAL AGREEMENT, SPEECH THERAPY IS PROVIDED TO NEEDY CHILDREN ACROSS OUR STATE.  THE QUALIFYING CITIES AND UNIVERSITIES ARE AS FOLLOWS:

AN APPLICATION FOR THIS SCHOLARSHIP MAY BE OBTAINED BY DOWNLOADING THE FORM FROM THIS WEBSITE OR BY VISITING THE DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNICATIVE DISORDERS AT ONE OF THE UNIVERSITIES LISTED ABOVE.

 

THE SECOND OPPORTUNITY IS THE D. WALTER JESSEN MEMORIAL CIVIL ENGINEERING SCHOLARSHIP.  TO QUALIFY FOR THIS SCHOLARSHIP, THE APPLICANT MUST BE A LOUISIANA RESIDENT AND A JUNIOR OR SENIOR CIVIL ENGINEERING STUDENT.  THEY MUST BE ATTENDING A LOUISIANA UNIVERSITY WITH AN ACCREDITED CIVIL ENGINEERING PROGRAM.  IN ORDER TO QUALIFY, THE STUDENT MUST MAINTAIN A FULL TIME STATUS (TWELVE OR MORE SEMESTER HOURS OR NINE OR MORE QUARTER HOURS) PER TERM.  THE STUDENT MUST ALSO MAINTAIN A 3.0 OR BETTER GRADE AVERAGE ON A 4.0 SCALE, WITH NO GRADE LOWER THAN A “C”.   CONSIDERATION IS GIVEN TO PROVIDING THIS SCHOLARSHIP TO TWO STUDENTS PER YEAR.  THE SCHOLARSHIP AMOUNT IS $2000.00 PER YEAR. 

 

AN APPLICATION FOR THE D. WALTER JESSEN MEMORIAL CIVIL ENGINEERING SCHOLARSHIP IS AVAILABLE EITHER BY USING THE DOWNLOADABLE FORM OF THIS WEBSITE OR BY VISITING THE CIVIL ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT OF ONE OF LOUISIANA’S UNIVERSITIES.
