APRIL 1 UPDATE
As
of April, the cost of transportation has increased slightly.
Travel from Edmonton is now $550 per person, and
from Calgary is $650 per person.
Both were previously $395 per person.
As the July 1 to 4 travel dates are pretty much full, travel for any new
registrations will be on July 2 and 5.
TRANSPORTATION CHANGE
Due to aircraft availability and a variety of other factors, we are no
longer able to charter an aircraft for this event. All travel will now by
by commercial air carrier on scheduled flights.
All persons who registered for this event prior
to April 1 and purchased seats on the charter will be booked on regularly
scheduled flights from either Edmonton or Calgary.
Unfortunately, we will also have to spread the
flights over two days. Approximately half the attendees will travel
Thursday, July 1 to Inuvik, returning on Sunday, July 4 (as originally
scheduled). The other half will have to travel Friday, July 2 to Inuvik,
returning on Monday, July 5.
If there is a compelling reason why you MUST
travel on one or the other of these dates, please contact the Lodge
secretary immediately. We will try to accommodate as many of these
requests as we can, based on seat availability.
Brother Chris M. Garven, can be contacted via
email here, or by telephone at (867) 777-4099 or Fax at (867) 777-3392.
We apologise for the change, and hope everyone
will still be able to make it.
All participants booked for travel will be
contacted shortly to advise them of their travel dates.
OOPS
Following up on a number of questions regarding the costs for the
hotel package, the Chairman of the Consecration Committee, Bro. Robin
McConville, has been in touch with the Mackenzie Delta Hotel Group (MDHG)
to clarify the costs for the rooms.
As of today (March 9, 2004), we have a
total of 100 rooms blocked for our use, spread out between the three
hotels in Inuvik.
The normal cost for these rooms is $199 per
night per room, or a total of $600 for the 3 nights (July 1, 2 and 3).
We have a commitment from MDHG to secure the rooms for just under
$500 for the 3 nights.
Previous information lead us to believe we were getting the rooms for $250
per room for the three nights. Unfortunately, this was a rather drastic
misunderstanding.
While we do not
want to have this as a fund-raising project, neither are we financially
able to absorb the difference of $250 per room.
Therefore, we are forced to withdraw
the information previously distributed and revert back to the $250 per
person or $500 per room for the 3 nights.
We realize that this is a major expense for
some of the brethren, and apologize for the confusion.
For
those who have already sent cheques for the $125 per person, we can wait
until you arrive in Inuvik to collect the difference of $125. For those
who have given us credit card information, we will process the final
payments shortly after April 1, 2004. If you wish to try to make alternate
arrangements for accommodation, please contact us and we can hold off
processing the hotel portion of the credit card charge until about May 15
to give you time to work on those alternate arrangements.
Please
note that the normal cost of rooms in Inuvik is almost $200 per night, and
with the three major hotels in Inuvik all owned by the MDHG, it is
unlikely you will find a better rate.
REGISTRATION FORM
Following a
through review of the pricing for the Consecration of Far
North Lodge in July, the Consecration Committee has been
able to reduce the costs for this event.
New prices are as follows:
Brethren who
have already registered DO NOT need to register again. If
you sent a cheque when you registered, we will hold the
difference and give it to you on your arrival in Inuvik.
Those who gave us a credit card number will have the total
adjusted when we process the final payment.
Space is going quickly on
the Alberta/NWT charter - please ensure your registration reaches us by
April 1!
