The Blue Envelope Appeal
 

The Beginning of the Blue Envelope:
 In 1955, the Scottish Rite Committee on Benevolence moved to invite our members to participate in the financial support of the Supreme Council Benevolent Foundation.

 The Foundation, established in 1941, then provided funds for our Research in Schizophrenia and the Supreme Council Education and Charity Fund, which distributed Leon M. Abbott Scholarships.

That groundbreaking appeal, endertaken with the oversight of Ill. Richard Kern, 33°, of Pennsylvania, received a "ready response from our Brethern."  More than 13,000 members donated a total of $28,283.

 In 2008 - more than 26,000 members supported our 54th Annual Blue Envelope Appeal and donated almost $650,000 to our Benevolent and Education Funds.  These charities distributed more than $3,500,000 in the form of scholarships, fellowships and support to the National Heritage Museum. 

The Blue Envelope is a tribute to our enduring Masonic values.

Dear Brethren,

 

IMPORTANT!  It’s that time of year again, The Supreme Council Blue Envelope Appeal.

The response to the Blue Envelope Appeal is extremely important to our Valley because it determines how much scholarship monies we receive from The Supreme Council each year.  This is potential scholarship monies for our families, our children, our grandchildren, etc.  The amount that we receive is based on How Many Members of The Valley Donate to this charity verses  how much money the members donate.  So if each member of our Valley donated just $1.00 Each, we would be recorded as a 100% VALLEY in the Supreme Council Office.  That would be a great honor for our Valley and would come right back and help our family members needing scholarship assistance.

As our Ill. Fred Myers 33°, PTPM has stated for several years, “Each young man that we give a scholarship to is a potential Master Mason.
