Brethren, |
In 2013, we will be celebrating 200 years as the Ancient Accepted
Scottish Rite of the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction of the United States
of America. The main theme of our celebration is “200 Years of
Brotherhood” in keeping with the most important tenet of our
institution. The official celebration period is from August 5, 2012 thru December 31, 2013, however, so as not to negatively impact 2012 spring classes, some programs have been expanded to include eligibility for all of calendar years 2012 and 2013. It is the desire of the 200th Anniversary Committee to see that all Valleys celebrate the 200th Anniversary in a manner appropriate for their Valley. There will be no single event or Anniversary Class for the jurisdiction, yet there will be many ways in which each Valley may join in the jurisdiction wide celebration. A key goal of the Supreme Council and the 200th Anniversary Committee is to assist all Valleys with their membership growth. In support of those efforts, several incentives have been developed to assist Valley membership chairmen and committees. The two key member based incentives are both Valley based and Jurisdictional based. The Valley based incentive program rewards the two top sponsors or first line signers of every valley for those new members who take their 32nd degree in either 2012 or 2013. The Jurisdictional Grand Prize incentive is a random drawing and provides an incentive for every member to sponsor at least one individual into Scottish Rite in the next two years to be eligible. In addition, in an effort to provide all candidates with something to remember their anniversary class, a special 200th Anniversary Pocket Jewel is provided for all new candidates to receive when they become a 32nd degree mason. These Anniversary pocket jewels are in the process of being made and will be distributed to all Valleys as soon as possible. (As these jewels will not be available for spring 2012, we would encourage every Valley to make arrangements for presentation in the fall to those that become a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason prior to the jewels being available.) We apologize for any inconvenience, however, we wanted to be sure to allow for all candidates of 2012 and 2013 to receive a jewel and not just those who joined during the official celebration period. Also, we wanted to provide for all first line signers to be eligible for the incentive programs. The Supreme Council Membership fund is absorbing the cost of the jewels for all candidates. Additional jewels will be available to Valleys at a cost of $25. Each. And, as we will require the efforts of both the Valley Secretary and the Valley Membership Chairman to support these membership incentives, and, as perception indicates that you and your membership chairman cannot and will not be eligible for the Valley based incentive nor the Grand Prize drawing, there will be separate random prize drawings for the secretaries and the membership chairmen. There will be four different groups based upon Valley membership size and subsequently four different drawings for the Secretaries and four different drawings for the Membership chairmen. To be eligible, a Secretary or Membership Chairman must be in their respective positions for a minimum of 6 months and the Valley must have a minimum new member increase of 6%. The 6% goal is based upon new members as compared to Valley membership as of January 1, 2012. |
