The Builders Fund

Money!  So, if that is as far as you got with this article I would understand. Most of us are fed up with everyone constantly asking for donations for every imaginable cause. To be honest, so am I. Any organization has three ways to raise the money it needs to operate: user fees, dues, or contributions. Our dues are as high as they can go, considering our region and membership. We manage to break even on our reunions. So that leaves contributions. Now, here we have options. We can ask for money for special projects or we can just ask for donations to operate the Valley. We all love a project, but not so much operating expenses and general maintenance. So, the board juggles the books to make it work. A few people put in big bucks now and then, but sometimes I feel like I am not lifting my end of the board.

Enter The Builders Fund. At the fall Reunion I asked our membership to join me in pledging at least $30 a month to the Valley through a direct deposit you can set up with your bank to make monthly transfers to the Valley’s bank. I, for one, cannot reach into my accounts and come up with 1,000 dollars, but if I give 30 dollars a month, I can give 360 dollar a year, and if I do that for 10 years, I will have given 3,600 dollars. Now, if I can get just 100 of you to join me at that level, we can provide $360,000 dollars to the Valley in the next ten years!

So please consider joining me, and help me lift one end of that proverbial board. Some may be able to give more, and others less that the $30 I’m using, but any amount would be appreciated.  Let’s get involved in rebuilding a Valley we can all be proud of. We have been given a great gift from our brothers from the past and we need to make sure the work they started goes on.
