Grand Assembly 2002
This year, Tracy Assembly worked hard to make Grand Assembly a memorable experience for each of our members. It was the first time in over thirty years that Grand Assembly was held in our state capital of Sacramento. But, instead of touring the historical sites that abound in that great city, we were off on "A Rainbow Passport to Ancient Greece & Rome" with a fantastic Grand Assembly! To see some of the fun we had, check out our Pictures page, and keep checking back for more, whenever pictures are developed and received!
Grand Officers
2001-2002 "Kinetic Energetic Koalas"
Wow! We were so proud
of all of our district's Grandies, but especially our very own Caroline R., who
was serving as Grand Representative to Montana & North Dakota. It was
so much fun to meet North Dakota's GWA and her mother! We were also very
proud of Natalie H., Grand Executive Committee/Christian Flag Bearer, from
Manteca, who gave a beautiful tribute at Informal Opening. She definitely
filled the shoes of our own Sharolyn B., JPGEC/Christian Flag Bearer & Rep
to FL/TN, wonderfully well, and we were thrilled to have Natalie representing us
this past year. We also had Modesto's Allison M. serving as Grand
Executive Committee & Historian this year. We know she put so much
love and dedication into Alicia's scrapbooks and that the memories will last
forever thanks to her hard work. We were sad to see Mrs. Mahan, also from
Modesto, stepping down as a Grand Executive Committee/Northern Mother Advisor,
after two years of service, but we also know that Modesto will be happy to have
her back full-time! And, lastly, we've always been proud of our Grand
Deputy's husband, and known he was the perfect Rainbow Dad, and now, the entire
state of California knows this as well. Our Koala Pop, Mr. Bob Miller, did
a great job!
Grand Officers
2002-2003 "Whimsically Wacky Walruses"
Wow!!!! It seems like we always say that as we start a new Grand Year, so
excited and happy for our new Grand Officers. And, of course, this year is
no different. We're always thrilled with the honor of having a Grandie,
especially the new Grand Representative to Maryland & West Virginia, Cindy
F., one of our oldest members. Revelations got even better when one of our
favorite Manteca girls, Pam K., was appointed Grand Circulation Manager for the
'Pot of Gold', our state newspaper. Both of these girls have a lot of hard
work ahead of them, but we know they're going to be as wonderful as all the
Grandies we ever have from our district. Both of them looked so beautiful
in different royal blue dresses at Grand Installation, as did each and every one
of the Whimsically Wacky Walruses. We all have no doubt they will achieve
our new Grand Worthy Advisor's goal of "settling for more."
Grand Choir
Dressed in a beautiful rose-pink color, the
"Magical Muses" entertained us this year with some beautiful
music. There were a few times when all of us in Tracy were certain we
could hear our own Ashley G.'s voice as she sang her heart out. Grand
Choir did a magnificent job and really made Grand Assembly a delight.
Talent
We're talented! Well, that's what we
think. We decided to put together a group dance routine, choreographed by
one of our members, at the beginning of February. We didn't know how we
would do, we just wanted to have fun and do something that all of us could
enjoy, and, maybe, if we were lucky, maybe make the Semi-Finals, which would put
us on the floor Saturday afternoon. Well... We did it! YAY!
We earned an Honorable Mention for our dance to "Pinch Me". Look
for pictures soon! And, don't forget to look for us next year, back and
better than ever!
Majority
This was the sad part of Grand Assembly for
us, as we saw two of our girls, Sharolyn B. & Caroline R., receive their
Majority on the Grand Assembly floor. It's always hard to lose such
outstanding members as both Sharolyn & Caroline, but we know that they'll
still be around to support us and we thank them for their years of leadership
and love. Without Sharolyn & Caroline, Tracy Assembly wouldn't be what
it is. We love you!
All in all, Grand Assembly 2002, was a blast! We were sad to see it end, but we know that 2003 is only a year away, and then we'll be heading to Fresno to start the cycle all over again. We'll try and get our ton of photos up as soon as possible!
