Brother,

One of the hardest jobs in our lodges is to be a new, or incoming, Worshipful Master. The WM is responsible for all facets of the lodge, and his demands are many.

As I began putting together ideas for my year, I began thinking of the other lodges in the 22nd Masonic District and wondered if other S.W.'s were as lost as I was. So, in order to assist you as a new WM, I've put together information that I'll be using for my lodge and I figured I would share it with you. I hope that this information will be of benefit for the craft and that it will be useful in planning your year.

But let me be clear on something - I am not currently nor have I ever been a Worshipful Master. I hope to be elected to that chair in 2008 but as of this writing, I am only the S.W. in our lodge.

The information provided below has been gathered from other, often older, Masons who have been generous enough to assist me in getting ready for my year. Also, some of it comes from seeing the problems and issues other past WM's have encountered. And finally, some of it comes from other officers currently in our line at Shekinah... "...the attentive ear receives the sound from the instructive tongue..." - yes Mike, I got the hint.

Before even downloading or viewing any of the pages below, I have one simple hint that will help make your year successful. COMMUNICATE!!! This has been the biggest mistake that I've seen Master's make. By not keeping your officers and brethren informed, you will be setting yourself up for failure. Just a gentle word of wisdom, take it for what it's worth.
