James Hubert "Jim" Wilson, 89, of
Louisville, passed away Friday, March 21,
2008 at his residence.
He was born March 23,
1918 in Lawrenceburg (Anderson Co.), KY. He
was retired from Petroleum Express, was a
Kentucky Colonel, and a 52-year member of
Robinson #266 Masonic Lodge. He was also a
member of Hikes Point Christian Church, and
a proud member of the church dart ball
league. He was noted as the first person to
register for enlistment in World War II in
Lawrenceburg, KY.
He was preceded in death
by an infant son, Jimmy Wilson; and three
sisters, Blanche Puckett, Eldree Dennis and
Murtie Akin. He is survived by his wife of
62 years, Sarah Juanema Wilson, whom he met
in 1944 while driving a street car. He is
also survived by his children, William
"Bill" Wilson (Jackie); Gwen Wix (David);
and Twana DeWeese (Steve); grandchildren,
Autumn Chapman, David Wix Jr., Tammy
Bradley, Gabriel Wilson, James DeWeese,
Jason DeWeese, Adam Wilson, and B.J. Wilson;
10 great-grandchildren; a twin sister, Helen
Tenney; brothers-in-law, Loren Skeans
(Norma) and Walton Skeans (Elsie); and a
sister-in-law, Mildred Brown (Gene).
Funeral
services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at
Evergreen Funeral Home, with entombment in
Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be from
5-8 p.m. Monday, noon-8 p.m. Tuesday and
noon-2 p.m. Wednesday. A Masonic service
will be held 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral
home. Memorial contributions can be made to
Masonic Homes of Kentucky, Hikes Point
Christian Church, or Hosparus.
