ELMER EUGENE "GENE" WHEET, 78, of Fountain
Run, KY, died Thursday, April 16, 2009 at
the T. J. Samson Community Hospital in
Glasgow, KY.
He was born in Barren County
the son of the late James Elmer "Dick' Wheet
and Alma Faye Eaton Wheet. Gene was a farmer
and a former corporate airplane pilot for
Brandeis Machinery in Louisville. He was a
U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War and was
a member of Robinson Lodge #226 F&AM in
Louisville for 49 years. Locally he was a
member of the Glasgow Rotary Club for many
years.
He is survived by five sisters,
Patricia Houchens, of Bowling Green, KY,
Beatrice Berry, of Louisville, Effie
DeFevers of Kileen, TX, Juanita Richardson,
of Taylorsville, KY and Barbara Janes, of
Edinburg, IN; and several nieces and
nephews. In addition to his parents, he was
preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Jane
Shaw Wheet; and two brothers, Joseph Lawton
Wheet and Gordon Thomas Wheet.
Funeral
service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday April 21,
2009 at the A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home,
with cremation to follow. Burial of his
cremated remains will be in the Glasgow
Municipal Cemetery at 2 p.m. Wednesday.
Visitation will be 4-9 p.m. Sunday and 10
a.m.-8 p.m. Monday at the A. F. Crow & Son
Funeral Home.
A Masonic service will be
conducted by Allen Lodge #24 in Glasgow on
Sunday night at the funeral home.
