John
Robert Smith, 76, of
Louisville, passed away Tuesday, September
22, 2009 at the Masonic Home of Louisville.
He was a member of the Masonic Robinson
Lodge #266, Scottish Rite and Louisville
Kosair/ Bullitt County Shrine Club. He was a
past president of the Bullitt County Shrine
Club and a past Commodore of the Kosair Boat
Club.
He was a partner in Smith & Pierson
Communications in Bullitt County until
moving to Lexington in the late 1970s. After
15 years, he retired from the Lexington GTE
Telephone Company and returned to
Louisville, where he was employed at Fort
Knox in telecommunications until 2006.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, the
former Joyce Nadine Moore; three loving
sons, John Nathan (Brenda), David Russell
"Rusty" (Donna) and Carl Edward (Kathy), who
gave him six beautiful grandchildren,
Kimberly, Chad, Stephanie, Casey (Damon),
Kyle and Jackie (Kyle); three
great-grandchildren, Jazlyn, William and
Grant; two brothers, Harold (Elizabeth) and
Richard (Joyce) Smith; three
stepgrandchildren; five step
great-grandchildren; and one step
great-great-grandchild.
The funeral service is 2 p.m. Saturday at
Evergreen Funeral Home. Visitation: 2-8 p.m.
Friday and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, with a
Masonic ceremony at 7 p.m. Friday.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that
memorial donations be made to the Masonic
Home of Louisville.
