Paul W. Powell, 73, Bardstown, died Tuesday,
Nov. 9, 2010, at Hardin Memorial Hospital,
Elizabethtown. He was born Oct. 15, 1937 in
Grayson County and retired as a maintenance
machinist from Brown & Williamson Company
with 37 years of employment. He was a member
of Robinson Masonic Lodge No. 266, and a
deacon and member of Greenwood United
Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents,
Fred and Pearl Powell; and two brothers,
Samuel Powell and Maynard Powell.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Riggs
Powell, Bardstown; three daughters, Valerie
(Don) Etherton, Prospect, Sherry (Samuel)
Johnson, New Hope, and Melonie (Kevin) Isham,
Bardstown; four sisters, Beulah Kessinger,
Greenville, Ind., Agnes Riggs, Upton,
Carolyn Meredith, Clarkson, and Donna Kaye
Jordan, Elizabethtown; two brothers, Alfred
Powell, Grayson County, and Carl Powell,
Louisville; four grandchildren, Bradley G.
(Devon) Etherton, Melissa (Greg) Gavin,
Morgan Williams, and LeeAnn (T. J.) Moore;
and five great-grandchildren, Thomas Moore,
Trace Culler, C. J. Gavin, Katie Moore, and
Giada Etherton.
The funeral will be noon Saturday at Barlow
Funeral Home, with burial in Highland Memory
Gardens, Mount Washington. The Rev. Edward
McHargue will officiate. Visitation is
noon-7:30 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m.-noon
Saturday at the funeral home. A Masonic
service will be 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral
home.
Memorial contributions may go to Hospice of
Nelson County.
Barlow Funeral Home is in charge of
arrangements.
