CORTUS PATTERSON PAYTON, 85, passed away at
the Robley Rex, VA Medical Center.
A native of Oneonta, AL, he was a retired
pipefitter for Dupont, a Navy veteran of
World War II and a Methodist by faith. He
was chief steward of Union, VFW Post 6th
district commander and past post commander
of Iroquois Post #6182. He was a member of
Plumb Lodge # 862.
He was preceded in death by his wives,
Bernadine and Patsy; and a daughter, Alice
Jane Beam.
Survivors include his sisters, Edith Bray
and LuAnn Quiggins; son-in-law, Roy Beam;
three grandsons; and seven
great-grandchildren.
His funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Owen
Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Hwy. Burial in
Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be
11 a.m.-8 p.m. on Friday. Online condolences
