MONROE, JAMES D. "JIM," "MONTY," JR., 83,
passed into his heavenly life peacefully on
the morning of April 3, 2010.
Honest, hardworking and loyal were just a
few of his characteristics, but his family
will remember him as loving husband, father,
grandfather and great-grandfather.
Jim was born and lived his entire life in
Louisville, a city he was happy to call
home. He was a proud graduate of duPont
Manual High School, Class of 1944 and
Spencerian Business College. He was a Navy
veteran of World War II.
He retired from National Distillers Corp. in
1984 after over 30 years of service. Jim was
a member of Bethany United Church of Christ,
a Master Mason of Robinson Lodge #266 and a
40 year member of Cardinal Twirlers Square
Dance Club.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents,
James D. Monroe Sr. and Louise Lorenz
Monroe; sister, Lorena Wiseman; and son,
James D. Monroe III.
He is survived by his loving and very
devoted wife of over 60 years Jean A. Monroe
(Canada); a daughter, Anita L. Taylor (Bud)
of Orange Park, FL; a son, Dr. Todd L.
Monroe (Wendy) of Toledo, OH; a
daughter-in-law, Jan Monroe; five
grandchildren Ted Monroe, Chris Monroe
(Darlene), Ian, Isabel and Ilaina Monroe;
great-grandson, Aidan Monroe; and a host of
nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at noon
Wednesday at Bethany United Church of
Christ, 10400 Old Preston Highway,
Louisville, KY 40229-2174 - (502) 969-6829.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 4-8
p.m. at Arch L. Heady & Son Funeral Home and
Cremation Services, 8519 Preston Highway,
Louisville KY 40219.
