Yes, that's me, visible in the front row on the left playing the flute.
John Pickeral, Director of the Vienna Community Band Concert Schedule1999
Stay tuned! More details to come!
Musicians NeededWe're doing OK in trombones, baritones, and alto saxophones. But we could squeeze in another player if you want to come.We really need bassoons, alto/bass clarinets, baritone saxophones, and tubas. Another oboe wouldn't hurt; we do have two now, though. We could use more clarinets (soprano Bb and definitely an Eb treble--see above for alto/bass), trumpets/cornets, and tenor saxophones. Another percussionist would be welcome, too. Even a couple of flutists. Auditions are not required.
Rehearsal InformationThe Vienna Community Band rehearses Sunday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30 at the Vienna Community Center, Park & Cherry Streets SE, Vienna, VA. Rehearsals are suspended for the Xmas--New Year's break and from late July through Labor Day. We also skip Superbowl Sunday, Easter, and certain days when the Community Center is pre-empted by other groups (such as the Antique Show).
Etc.There is a small voluntary fee for members to defray costs of music and equipment purchases. This part of Vienna is not within easy walking distance from the Vienna Metrorail stop. The Community Center and other concert locations may be reached via the 2C Metrobus from Ballston, East Falls Church, and Dunn Loring Metrorail stations. (The 2C bus runs on Sundays and can get you to a rehearsal, but its last trip is too early to get you home afterwards. It's about half an hour's walk to the Vienna Metro station.)
The band also has an official home page. (The graphics are better, but I have photos!) The Richmond Community band has a useful link page for musicians. Another interesting place for musical information, particularly wind ensembles and bands, is the Stehle home page.
