Digest ModeTo receive just one message per day containing the previous 24 hours' traffic (well, more precisely, a digest is emitted when 30KB of traffic has accumulated), instead of each message individually as it is sent, send a message to freemasonry-list-request@masonic.org with the text SET DIGEST.Do not send this message to the list! Do not send this message to the list! ProblemsIf you encounter problems with list operations, send a message to owner-freemasonry-list@masonic.org with the text describing your problem. You will receive an answer from one of the list administrators. The List Administrators as of 11 Mar 98 are Brothers: If you suddenly find yourself unsubscribed to the list, it may be because something has gone wrong with your local mail system, network, or the like, and the administrators are receiving "bounce" messages because mail cannot be delivered to you or to your site. (AOL subscribers are notorious for this when they have not read their email and their mailbox is declared "full.") Do not assume that you have been singled out for mistreatment! Contact the administrators for assistance.Likewise, if you cannot post to the list, perhaps your system is not sending the same email address as a return-address as the one you subscribed from (this can occur if the system administrators at your site have not configured your mail system correctly after changing operating system versions--it happened to me). Remember that only subscribers can post to the list (this is called a "closed" list), and if your return-address is not registered, you will not be recognized as a subscriber. Contact the administrators as above; they can fix this at the mailing list level (although it would be better if your sysadmins at your system fixed their problem--it's their fault, after all).
AbuseIf you abuse the privileges of the list, such as by posting attachments (the mailer cannot handle the volume of traffic this causes), inappropriate (this includes virus warnings, many of which prove to be hoaxes these days, and for which there are other places on the Net) or hostile material, or similar actions, and you ignore the warnings you will receive about this, the administrators can set you to a NOPOST status. You will be able to read but not post to the list. Or they can UNSUBSCRIBE you and not let you resubscribe. As in Lodge, there is no appeal from the decision of the chair. So behave Masonically!
