  • A nationwide high-speed dialup service for Macintosh from OtherWorld Computing.
  • Allan Sherman, with lyrics.
  • Added since 19 November 2001

    • Find out what the Arab press says in Arabic (not quite what they say in English). In translation to English. Also includes articles from the Farsi-language press of Iran.

    • Free phone calls from your Windows PC (Macs later?) to anywhere in the USA from dialpad.com.
    • Need some additional space to store files or to move them between machines at different locations? Or share them with friends, acquaintances, people you don't even know, and agencies with black helicopters? Try an "internet drive" site:
      • i-drive offers 25MB of space at no charge, except for looking at ad banners, and some tools that work only with Windows (although the space can be used from any machine)
      • X:drive has a pretty strong Windows orientation, too; also 25 MB of free space (and they sure would like to write a forty-year cookie to your hard drive...)
      • visto calls itself a "webtop organizer" and includes a calendar, address book, etc.--but only 15MB of space
      • driveway offers 25MB, but you can earn more by persuading friends to sign up or by answering surveys; the welcome page says "up to 100MB."
      • FreeDiskSpace offers 25MB with "unlimited" additional space for signing up your friends (or for a fee); it also partitions space into MacSpace, LinuxSpace, MP3Space, PDASpace, and (for slaves to the Windows tyranny) PCSpace. They will even burn a CD-ROM with your files, for a charge. Good luck reading their fine print on a Mac, though.
      • Click2Send provides 50MB, but the files stored have only a ten-day lifespan. This is mostly for sending files to another user by some means other than an email attachment.
    • Did you go to a highly selective college/university? The Square is an online meeting place for alumni (and current students) of such institutions.
    • eGroups provides a way for your group (any kind of group) to share information, openly or securely
    • All things scientific at SciCentral
    • Here's a nice pro-Mac, anti-MS screed.
    • Some useful information about Usenet (with links to other useful information, too) from Indiana University's Knowledge Base. The Landfield Usenet reference page might also be of interest.
    • The list of Gilbert and Sullivan parodies will also take you to the Gilbert and Sullivan web ring.
