What is the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls ?

The International Order of the Rainbow for Girls (IORG) is a youth group for girls between the ages of 6 and 11 for a Pledge Sister and 11 to 20 for Rainbow Girls. This youth group, The International Order of the Rainbow for Girls, is only affiliated with the Masonic Lodges, Order of the Eastern Star Chapters, and Courts of Amaranth. Many groups and organizations use the name of Rainbow in their title or organizational name. We are NOT associated with any other group than the three listed above. Within each Grand Assembly (State or Country) there are Local groups (Assemblies) in various towns. The girls learn about charity, hope and service through their involvement and support with various projects, such as Shriners Hospital for Children, Rotary Gift of Life, Make a Wish Foundation, Elizabeth H. Repka Charity Fund, Tomorrow’s Children, Scottish Rite Learning Centers and Cassidy’s Place to name a few. The International Order of the Rainbow for Girls first Assembly was formed on April 6, 1922 in McAlester, Oklahoma (which is the home of our Supreme Assembly). New Jersey is equally proud that it’s first Assembly was formed in 1923 making it the first state East of the Mississippi to start Rainbow. New Jersey also helped form Rainbow in the states of Pennsylvania, Maryland and New York State.

Today The International Order of the Rainbow for Girls has assemblies in 46 states in the United States in addition to assemblies in 8 other countries. Current states, which do not have assemblies, are: South Dakota, Delaware, Utah, and Wyoming. The countries outside the United States which DO have assemblies are: Australia (both Queensland and New South Wales), Canada, Japan, Germany, Panama, Philippines, and Brazil. Italy is in the early stages of starting Assemblies.
