June 2000 Notes
Ancient temples were "oriented", word which comes from the Latin oriens, orientis, the East. They faced the East, so that the first rays of the sun would strike the god's statue inside. Solomon's Temple in Jerusalem had, inversely as compared to ours, its doors to the East so that the rays of the rising sun might strike the Holy of Holies every morning.
Harmony being the strength and support of all society especially of ours...Aloha brethren! We have been very busy in the last few weeks. On 5/3 we presented Monsarrat's Past Masters Jewel to Hawaiian Lodge. On 5/20, we were back in the Kailua bird sanctuary. We managed to clear the stream of California grass and Salvinia Molesta by the end of the day. Our next job will be to widen the stream, but we accomplished quite a lot in one day. Thanks to Worshipful George Theofanis and brother Mark Bleakney for their help. Also many members of the Navy and different environmental groups came out to assist us. We also had a photographer from the Midweek show up. Look for the pictures. On 5/26, our lodge had the pleasure of hosting another Shriners Hospital event. Our special guest was Nainoa Thompson, the Master Navigator of the Hokulea. The kids really enjoyed the lecture, food and toy outrigger canoes we presented them with. Mahalo nui loa to Brother Dave Franklin who video taped it for our video library and to brother Bleakney who took digital shots of the event. It was a special night for all. Please join us for future events. We will also be very busy in the coming months raising brothers as Fellowcrafts and Master Masons. Please join us in the columns and make their night even more memorable
Respectfully Submitted,
