On July 8 Eagle Lodge will hold a second
degree during our stated
communication, beginning at 7:30. You are invited.
Ladies Night is scheduled for July 12 at 5:30 p.m. All
Master Masons, their guests, and widows of Master Masons are invited to this
annual dinner. We will have a special guest speaker – Tammy Franklin of
Hillsborough will talk about her experiences living in and teaching in Kuwait.
This will be a fascinating presentation. Plan to join us! RSVP by calling Bob
Patten at 644-7359 by July 7. Rides to the lodge are available upon request.
Our annual awards dinner will be held at 6 p.m. Aug.
26, prior to that evening’s stated
communication. We will present 50-year and 25-year awards. This will be a good
time to catch up with brethren you haven’t seen in a while.
Eagle Lodge collected 24 pints at our May 31 blood drive. Each pint can potentially save three lives so we can be proud of this contribution to the community. We also brought in three first-time donors.
Because blood is in such short supply this time of year, the
Red Cross asked us to host another drive on Saturday August 16 from 8
a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Make plans to join us – and encourage your neighbors,
co-workers and fellow church members to make appointments to give by calling
Bro. Bob Mangum at 732-8501. Walk-in donors are also accepted. Word of mouth is
the best advertising – help us spread the word!
On
May 30 and June 27 we opened the lodge building for Hillsborough’s Last Friday
celebration and sold hot dogs and soft drinks to support lodge renovations.
Bro. Gregg Phillips sang and played guitar and we had a great time visiting
with friends, neighbors and passers by. The next Last Friday is July 25. We hope to see you then.
Another result of our desire to be open to the community is the Orange County Historical Museum’s request to hold a seminar in the lodge on July 19. The topic is Revolutionary war pensions and the seminar is part of the museum’s “Following Their Trail” conference on Orange County migration. There is a charge for the conference. More information is available from the museum at 732-7741.
Next stated communications: July 8, July 22, Aug. 12 and Aug. 26. Meetings are on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month at 7:30 p.m. We want to see you. If you need a ride to the lodge, please call any of us.
