February 2003
Dear Brother,
Our year is off to a great start. On Feb. 9 we presented the Masonic Home for Children with a check for $5,000 from the barbecue and Brunswick stew sale. On Feb. 8 we took Rebecca, a young woman sponsored by our lodge, shopping for clothes. On Feb. 11 we had a 2nd degree, and we are looking forward to much more degree work in 2003.
Please mark your calendar for these important dates: We will have a 1st degree on Feb. 25 at 7:30 p.m. On March 22 we will host a School of Instruction, starting with a light breakfast at 7 a.m. and ending by noon. Plan to join us. To get ready we will have a lodge workday March 15 and would appreciate any and all help.
On April 8, we will have a Past Master’s night, starting at 6:30 p.m. with a supper followed by a stated communication. This is to thank Past Masters for their service and honor their many contributions to our lodge. If you are a Past Master and need a ride to the lodge, please contact any of the officers below.
The Masonic and Eastern Star Home (MESH) in Greensboro has provided help for our elderly Masonic brothers and Eastern Star sisters for many decades. As an independent living community with houses for married couples, it has become a model for other states and grand jurisdictions. If a resident has health concerns that prevent him or her from going out of doors, he or she may go from sleeping quarters to dining facilities, the library, health center and church services without leaving the shelter of the building.
The only sources of income for the home are Masonic: Masonic foundation investments, funds from the residents, and lodge donations.
In the past, Eagle Lodge has used offerings during meetings as our primary source of donations for the home. I humbly request that we dig a little deeper and donate more to our retired brothers and sisters, showing the rest of the state and country our pride in our facilities.
May I suggest a contribution of $15? Your gift in this amount, added to gifts from our brothers in Eagle Lodge and across the state, will make a tremendous difference in the lives of our brothers and sisters.
Please send your donation to the lodge at P.O. Box 1095,
Hillsborough, N.C., 27278. Make checks payable to Eagle Lodge and indicate that
you are contributing to MESH.
Remember, brother, we meet the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month at 7:30 p.m. We want to see you. If you need a ride to the Lodge, please call any of us.
