Wednesday, May 24th, 2000

 

The May 2000 meeting of the Columbia Valley Scottish Rite Four Bodies was held at the Masonic Center in Columbia, Missouri.  The meeting opened at 6:40pm with the following members presiding:

8.      Communications:  G W summarized incoming correspondence. 

 

9.      Old Business:

  1. Legal and 501c(3):  Attorney fee received and payment approved ($2,305)
  2. By-laws:  No report
  3. Visit Scottish Rite Clubs:  Keith Neese attended NC SR Club last night (27)
  4. Clinic Report:  Bob King is meeting with Dr Dale next week regarding the Children’s pre-school program.  Meeting scheduled for 6 June with Truman State officials working towards Clinic there.  Expect to have Clinic there by Fall 2000.  Open house and screening with Shrine taking place 23 Sep. 
  5. Last Will & Testament for Paul Burge:  G W reported that Brent Stewart is handling and will be settled shortly.
  6. DeMolay:  Dean Christy reported nothing new last three months.
  7. Committee Assignments:  G W reminded heads of 4-Bodies again that they need to fill their committees.
  8. Web Page:  J. R. Latta updated the Valley on status.  G W acknowledged that we need to provide Chris Billups more text.
  9. Long Range Planning Committee:  No report

 

10.  New Business: 

  1. John Gross moving to Florida:  Keith Neese informed the Valley that our Treasurer is moving and thanked John for the great job he has done.
  2. SRF Scholarship meeting:  Keith Neese addressed and encouraged members to get applications in ASAP.
  3. Summer Auction Fundraiser:  Keith Neese addressed and appointed Mark Belchers as Chairman, and J. R. Latta (Hannibal), and Bob Brockman (Columbia) to assist.  Need 5-6 volunteers to work with committee.  J. R. Latta reported on their successful Shriner screening clinic recently.  24 children attended.  Bob King said MU clinic folks wanted to participate, but can only accommodate during the school year.  They believe is excellent training for students.  J. R. also reported that Masons in Hannibal are working to open a Dental Clinic and requested any help/assistance contacting key organizations.
  4. Temple money transfer:  Keith Neese reported that the Valley may need to transfer up to $4,000 into our LOP account.  The Valley has not transferred any funds from the Temple since July of 1997.  Also, commented that the Valley needs to determine the amount of money that should be distributed from our Life fund into our LOP account each year.  Motion to authorize up to $4,000 transfer from Temple to LOP made and approved unanimously.
  5. 32° Jewel vs 14° Ring Discussion:  G W raised this issue for discussion and we discussed it for approximately 30 minutes.  G W then recommended we appoint a committee to research.  Jim Wade, Frank Calcote, and David Priest appointed to research.
  6. Discussion on Newsletter:  Bob Brockman provided $50 to help fund newsletter expenses.   Newsletter will go out in June.
  7. Valley going Black:  Motion made for Valley to go black in June and July.  Approved unanimously.
  8. Event dates:  2 Jun Centralia Anchor Fest Parade 7pm.  3 Jun Canadian 3° team here to perform, lunch and dinner served, contact Gene Berck.  6 Jun Acacia Lodge 1° for Sam Bornhauser, Jr. at 6:30pm.  11 Jun Flag day at Grand Lodge beginning at noon, bring dish, meat provided.
  9. Email addresses:  Bill Bayer recommended the Valley include email addresses on future member list.

 

With no further business appearing, and without objection, the Venerable Master closed the meeting at 8:10pm, peace and harmony prevailing.  Our next scheduled 4-Bodies meeting will be August 23rd, 2000.
