| In 1751 a second Grand Lodge was organized in England. After organizing the Premier Grand Lodge, some changes, improvements and innovations were made. Members of unaffiliated Lodges were concerned that these changes did not reflect the same Masonry as they had always enjoyed, and they determined that they would preserve their “True” Masonry.

| So, they also formed a Grand Lodge, calling themselves “Ancients” and referring to those “other guys” as “Moderns”.

| In 1751, after much discussion, they merged with their Brethren, to form the United Grand Lodges of England.
