RELIGIOUS BELIEF

by William R. Fischer

"A man is obliged by his tenure, to obey the moral law, and if he rightly understands the art, he will never be a stupid atheist nor an irreligious libertine."

This was taken from part of the old charges.

In ancient times the brother Mason had to be of the religion of the country he was in.

In modern times, a man only has to declare a belief in the deity. He may be of any religion, because of this we are not to discuss religion while in the Lodge, for one mans religious belief may be offensive to another.

For the same reason we do not talk politics while in the Lodge.
