Dear Friend, Welcome to Blackmer Lodge's home on the Internet. While our Website was developed with the intent to keep our members informed of current events, it is also meant to be enjoyed by anyone who has an interest in the world of Freemasonry, whether it is out of casual curiosity or of a more scholarly intent. Blackmer Lodge was organized in 1850 and we are the oldest Masonic lodge located in Montgomery County, North Carolina. We currently have 127 members (no, we are not obsessed with the number "127" and will gladly take in more members!), several of which have been members of our lodge for over 50 years! We are proud of our past and, if you are interested, you can learn more about the origins of our lodge by reading "The History of Blackmer Lodge No. 127 A. F. & A. M." Our "Short Talks" page currently hosts 112 short stories and articles, some of which are delightfully entertaining while other are more serious and thought provoking. Our "Links of Masonic Interest" page will take you to a multitude of sites devoted not only to Freemasonry in North Carolina but to just about anywhere the world. The "Events" page will keep you up to date with what is going in our lodge as well as that of the appendant bodies of Freemasonry to which our members belong to. If you are not a Mason and you have come here looking for more information on our fraternity, I would recommended that you take the time to read "Freemasonry Revealed", a webpage that is hosted by The Grand Lodge of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of North Carolina. You might also take the time to read an article that I wrote last year entitled "Join a Masonic Lodge? NEVER!". If you find yourself interested in learning how to become a Mason, I invite you to take the time to contact me - regardless of where you may live. Finally, this is a work in progress. If you find errors in our webpages, or have suggestions as to how we can improve upon what we have, I encourage you to let me know. Thank you allowing us to share with you and I trust that you will find something here that is worthy of your time! Larry B. Thompson,
