Delaware Valley Assembly #65
International Order of the Rainbow for Girls

Instituted January 25, 1958

Last Updated 11/05/12

The International Order of the Rainbow for Girls (IORG) is a youth organization for girls between the ages of 11 to 20.  Rainbow also has Pledge Assemblies for girls between the ages of 5 to 11.  The IORG is only affiliated with the Masonic Lodges, Order of the Eastern Star and the Order of the Amaranth.  Many groups and organizations now use the name of Rainbow in their title or organizational name.  We are NOT associated with any other group than the three listed above.

What is the purpose of Rainbow?

The purpose of Rainbow is to promote effective communication, leadership skills and most importantly, service to humanity.  Members of Rainbow are active in their churches, schools and communities.  They raise money for various charities and extend themselves in service to their community.  Rainbow girls also have many fun activities and opportunities to make lifelong friendships.

Is Rainbow for Girls a religion?

NO! The International Order of the Rainbow for Girls is a service organization. Rainbow for Girls does, however, encourage each member to be an active participant in the church of her choice.

What are the teachings of Rainbow?

The teachings of Rainbow are non-sectarian, based on the seven lessons taught to the girls at their initiation ceremony.  The lesson of Love teaches love of home and family.  Religion teaches the importance of membership and active participation in the church of your choice.  Nature teaches the importance of spending time in the out-of-doors.  Immortality teaches us that even though our body dies our souls live on forever.  Fidelity teaches the importance of loyalty to the Order and the Rainbow Girl’s family and friends.  Patriotism teaches the importance of respecting the laws of our country and its flag and Service teaches the importance of providing unselfish acts of service to our home, community, and the sponsoring Organizations of Rainbow.  There are also teachings of Faith, Hope and Charity.  The beautiful lessons of Rainbow guide a girl into a better life.

We Meet:

Delaware Valley Assembly #65 is the only Rainbow Assembly in Burlington County.  Our meetings are held on the 2nd and 4th Saturday mornings at 9:00am.  We meet and are sponsored by Beverly-Riverside Lodge #107, F & AM, located at 621 Chester Avenue, Riverside, New Jersey.

Who can attend a Rainbow Meeting?

Meetings are open to Rainbow Members in good standing, as well as any Mason, Eastern Star or Amaranth in good standing, any parent, grandparent or legal guardian of an active Rainbow Girl and any Majority Member of Rainbow (at the age of 20, or upon marriage, which ever occurs first, girls who are members in good standing are eligible for Majority Membership).

How do I join?

A girl must be sponsored by two other girls who are either active members in good standing or a majority member.  At least one adult whom must be a member in good standing of either the Masonic Lodge, Order of the Eastern Star, Order of the Amaranth, or White Shrine must also sponsor a girl.

Announcements:

bullet

We are collecting soda can tabs to benefit the Shriner’s Hospital.  Collect them at home and bring them with you to a meeting.

bullet

The Assembly is still collecting “BLUE” Register receipts issued by the Acme Markets in Burlington, Willingboro and Cinnaminson.  You can turn them in to any Rainbow Girl, Advisor or leave them in the envelope on the Bulleting Board at the Hall.  For every $5000 of receipts turned in, the Assembly receives 1%.  It does add up after a while, so every little bit helps.  Please let your friends and co-workers know that we are saving these receipts.  The more receipts that we save, the more money we will receive from Acme Markets.
