Special Note on Masonic Memos by Bob Travis:  Bro. Travis distributes news about statewide events to all interested masons via an email list he calls "Masonic Memos."  It is invaluable and exhaustive.  If you would like to contribute a news item to him for inclusion in his mailings, or would like to receive your own copy of Masonic Memos, please feel free to contact him to at Masonic-Memos@comcast.net.   I use only a small portion of the material he includes, so GET ON HIS LIST!

Garfield Lodge 50
312 Main St., Longmont, CO

Highlands No. 86
There is a movement in the Metro area to start a Spanish speaking lodge. This entails translating Colorado Work into Spanish so that visitors could more easily follow along. This would be a regularly chartered lodge, not just to do work on occasion in Spanish but also to conduct business in Spanish. I have not found anything in the Book of Constitutions stating that the work must be done in English. I am asking for a letter of recommendation from your lodge because it is required under section 230 of the Book of Constitutions. We are currently in the process of translating the Colorado Craftsman into Spanish such has been done in Texas and California. There are many Hispanic masons currently residing in the Denver metro area with over 40 candidates in waiting. There has been advertising in a Spanish newspaper and a TV commercial in the works calling for Hispanic masons and those interested in masonry to come together. I believe that it is entirely possible to open this lodge in 2004. Those involved that it will take a lot of work to memorize the ritual. I believe this will really help to bring our peoples together. Please address your letter of recommendation to the Grand Lodge of Colorado but send it to John Lawton at the Highlands Masonic Temple or by e-mail. I will keep them until there is a sufficient number to submit them to the Grand Lodge.

Also, Highlands Masonic Temple is having an Open House on Saturday August 23 this year to promote awareness of
Freemasonry. The Denver Scottish Rite Consistory, El Jebel bodies, local police, Job's Daughters' HIKE choir and Spanish speaking masons as well as others will have booths here. Call Jim Marshall P.M. Highlands #86 at 303-752-9091; superjdm@comcast.net  if you would be interested in having a booth.

Rainbow Girls
Grand Assembly of Colorado, International Order of Rainbow for Girls would like to thank everyone in the Masonic Family for their generous monetary donations toward our Supreme Assembly to be held in Colorado Springs in July 2004. Thanks to you we are on our way to reaching our goal of donations, however, we still have more to raise and have several ways everyone can help.
1. Recycle printer toner cartridges. If you have any we can recycle it would be appreciated. Contact Chuck Law @ cmlawl@juno.com for more information.
2. We have Albertson's Partner cards. With these cards you only have to carry them with you when you shop at Albertson's and have the cashier scan them at the checkout counter. Rainbow will receive a percentage of your sales. Please contact a Rainbow Assembly in your area and they will be happy to assist you or you can contact Mrs. Debby Kier, Supreme Deputy at codeputydeb@earthlink.net or Mike Jones at mjcolo@juno.com.
3. Rosalie Johnson, wife of PGM Rodney, is making bolo ties. She is willing to continue to make them by special order.  She makes Blue Lodge, Past Masters, Eastern Star, York Rite, Scottish Rite etc. etc. etc.  Folks can order them by writing, telephoning or emailing her at the following: randr@dmea.net
Rosalie Johnson
803 Palmer
Delta, CO 81416
(970) 874-3433
4. Go to igive.com when purchasing via the Internet (there's a long list of well known vendors).  Choose "Colorado Rainbow Girls" from the list of registered organizations.  The organization is to receive a percentage of purchases.  In addition, there is a $5 donation to the organization for each first order.

If you have any questions about Colorado Rainbow or if you know of a young lady in your area who would benefit by being a part of the Masonic Family please contact Mrs. Debby Kier at the e-mail address above.
Thanks for your continued support!
