Joel Parker was born on November 24, 1816 He was a New Jersey Assemblyman 1846-48, Major General of Militia 1861, Governor of the State of New Jersey 1863-66 & 1872-75, Attorney General of New Jersey 1875. Associate Justice of the New Jersey Supreme Court 1880-88. He died on January 2, 1888. Interment at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold, N.J.
