William McKissack
(1755-1831)
Revolutionary Patriot. Captain 1st Pennsylvania Continental Line, Revolutionary War. The "Founder" of the Grand Lodge of New Jersey in 1786, serving as the Worshipful Master at the foundation at New Brunswick on December 18, 1786. He was a distinguished physician from Bound Brook and founder of the Somerset Medical Society. Made a Mason in Bristol Lodge #25 in Pennsylvania and was the first Master of Solomon's Lodge #1 (old) and served that Lodge for many years. He was also Deputy Grand Master from 1805 till 1819 and was considered one of the Grand Lodge's most devoted members for nearly 40 years.
