Franklin Murphy
(1846-1920)
Franklin Murphy, born January 3, 1846 was President and Chairman of the Board of The Murphy Varnish Company. He was a Delegate to Republican National Convention from New Jersey, 1900, 1904 and served as the Forty-second Governor of New Jersey 1902-05. Fought in the Civil War as a teenager in the 13th New Jersey Infantry, rising to 1st Lieutenant. He died February 24, 1920. Internment at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Newark. Lodge: Kane 55
