"The Father of' Organized Scottish Rite in New Jersey," instituting the first legally chartered Body in the State, January 23, 1862, at Trenton, and serving as the first Deputy of' the united Supreme Council 1864-82. Installed as Deputy Grand Secretary of the Grand Lodge at age 22, 1838-41, and as Grand Secretary of the Grand Lodge at age 26, 1841-94; a total of 56 years of service to the Grand Lodge.
