Brother Abbett was born on October 8, 1836 in Jersey City, N.J. He was Delegate to Democratic National Convention from New Jersey, 1876; 1890-93. NJ Assemblyman 1865-70, Speaker 1869-70, NJ Senator 1875-77, President 1877. Governor of the state of NJ 1884-87 and 1893-94. Associate Justice of the NJ Supreme Court 1893-94. Died December 4, 1894. Interment at Green-Wood Cemetery, Brooklyn, N.Y.
