Beginning on January 22, 1883, Several Master Masons of
Susquehanna Lodge No. 130 (in Havre de Grace) applied to
Susquehanna lodge, as the Jurisdictional lodge in the area, to
form a new lodge in Perryman.
A committee was appointed and reported unfavorably on the
undertaking. On January 14, 1884 Susquehanna Lodge passed a
resolution stating that it would be "prejudicial to interests of
Freemasonry to establish a lodge at Perryman".
On April 8, 1890, eleven Brothers of Susquehanna Lodge again
petitioned Susquehanna Lodge for a recommendation for
dispensation and warrant to form a new lodge in Aberdeen.
At the
Grand lodge meeting on May 13, 1890, a petition for Charter was
submitted to the Grand Lodge requesting a Charter be granted to
Brother George Walker and other petitioners to hold Lodge in
Aberdeen. A Warrant was issued by Grand Master Thomas J. Shryock,
and Aberdeen Lodge 187 came into existence.
At the Susquehanna Lodge meeting on May 13, 1890, members who
were
listed on the petition to the Grand Lodge requested and were
granted
demits. George Walker, who had been Master of Susquehanna Lodge
No.
130 the previous year became the first Worshipful Master of the
New
Aberdeen Lodge!
On January 24, 1976, Aberdeen Lodge was destroyed by fire. As a
result, the Lodge held it's meetings at several locations
including
Susquehanna Lodge No. 130. By 1980, Aberdeen Lodge purchased a
building at 20 Howard Street in Aberdeen, which continues to
this
date to be its Temple.
