As the white lambskin is the badge of a Mason, so is the
regulation cap, the badge of the Scottish Rite Mason
A BLACK cap with the double-headed eagle indicates the wearer has attained the 32° and is appropriately called a members cap.
A BLUE cap is a worker of committee cap and is so designated by the wording.
A GOLD cap indicates the wearer is an Officer. Each officer line of the Scottish Rite is designated by the emblem on the cap.
A RED cap indicates the wearer has received the Meritorious Service Award.
A WHITE cap indicates the wearer has received the 33°, titled Sovereign Grand Inspector General, Honorary Member of the Supreme Council.
A PURPLE cap indicates the wearer is a 33° Sovereign Grand Inspector General and an Active Member of the Supreme Council or an Active Emeritus Member.
