James Charles “Jimmie” Rodgers "The Singing Brakeman" He was born on September 08, 1897 He was Initiated into Spinks Lodge No. 507 in Meridian Mississippi while still a young Railroad Brakeman he had a short but productive career considering the then state of communications technology. After recording 111 songs He was also known as the Blue Yodeler and the Father of Country Music. He died from tuberculosis at the age of 36. First person to be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1961. 33rd Degree A.A.S.R., Noble in Alzafar Shrine, San Antonio, Texas. He entered the Celestial Lodge on May 26, 1933.
John Wayne was born Marion Robert Morrison; at Winterset, Iowa on May 26, 1907. He was "Raised" in Marion McDaniel Lodge #56 in Tucson, Arizona - on July 11, 1970. He received his Entered Apprentice Degree on July 9, 1970 and his Fellowcraft on July 10, 1970. He was member of Glendale Demolay Chapter during his high school days. His father was also a mason. As a Senior DeMolay, he was also awarded the DeMolay Legion Of Honor in 1970, in December of that year. He joined the York Rite Bodies in California and became a Shriner in the Al Malaikah Shrine Temple, located in Long Beach, California. He entered the Celestial Lodge on June 11, 1979.
Charles H. Mayo He along with brother, William J. Mayo (not a Mason) was co-founder of the Mayo Foundation for Medical Education and Research at Rochester, Minnesota, in affiliation with the University of Minnesota. He was born on July 19, 1865 in Rochester, Minnesota, the son of William W. Mayo, M.D., q.v. Received M.D. degree from Northwestern University in 1888 and M.A. in 1904. He did postgraduate work at N.Y. Polyclinic, and received honorary degrees from numerous universities throughout the world. With his brother, he donated $2,800,000 for the present Mayo Clinic at Rochester. It began in the Masonic Temple building. Dr. Mayo served as surgeon and associate chief of staff of the clinic; surgeon to St. Mary's and Worrall hospitals; and professor of surgery, Medical School, University of Minnesota, from 1919 until 1936. He served in WWI as colonel of Medical Corps. He was later chief consultant for Office of Surgeon General and was Brigadier General in Medical Reserve. He was a Member of Rochester Lodge No. 21, Rochester, Minnesota, receiving degrees on Jan. 27, Feb. 24, and May 12, 1890. He was a member of Halcyon Chapter No. 8, R.A.M. and Home Commandery No. 5, K.T., both of Rochester. 32° AASR (SJ) at Winona, Minn. and 33° in Oct., 1935. He entered the Celestial Lodge on May 26, 1939 from Pneumonia.
On this day in 1927, Mason Henry Ford and his son Edsel drive the 15 millionth Model “T” Ford out of the factory. This was the end of the Model “T” production as a new Model “A” would soon appear.
At the end of a historic two month trial, the US Senate narrowly fails to convict Mason and President Andrew Johnson of the impeachment charges brought against him by the US House of Representatives only three months earlier.
