We dedicate this page, in loving memory, to the Brothers of Suburban Lodge who have laid down the working tools of this life. May they come before the Supreme Architect of the Universe and be welcomed as good men and worthy craftsmen.

Brother Holsclaw was born on November 11, 1920 in Shepherdsville, Kentucky He was received his Entered Apprentice Degree on the 25th Day of August 1949 He was passed the degree of Fellow Craft On the 6th h Day of October 1949, and raised to the Sublime degree of Master Mason on the 17th Day of November 1949, all in Suburban Lodge #740 F&AM. And served as Master 1960. He was a faithful member for 63, years, having Completed the designs upon his trestle board Brother Holsclaw laid down the working tools of His busy life and entered that celestial Lodge Above on the 8th Day of January, 2012 He is sadly missed by his Children and family members and many friends. No Masonic Services was Conducted

Irvin Roy Holsclaw was born in Shepherdsville, Kentucky, where he grew up. With World War II becoming a real possibility, Irvin enlisted in the United States Army on May 2, 1939 at the age of 18. He was part of the 1st Armor Division from Fort Knox Kentucky. Irvin was a Light Tank Commander who was in charge of a light tank platoon of five tanks with four men in each tank. He was responsi­ble for the proper maintenance of the tank, its guns, and equipment as well as the conduct and safety of the crews. On May 11,1942, Irvin was shipped overseas to Europe. He arrived in Europe on May 20, 1942. While in Europe, Irvin suffered injuries in battle twice and received two Purple Hearts. Irvin's overseas tour during World War II was in Ireland, England, North Africa and Italy. While in Mer-seta, Italy, Irvin— then Staff Sergeant Holsclaw — was in an intense battle. The Germans detonated a massive ammunition dump which stunned the crews in the tanks. Thinking they had been hit, the crews began abandoning their tanks. Sergeant Holsclaw moved forward, finding a way through the blaze of fire, explosions and hostile fire, leading the tank crews out to safety. It was determined that without his leadership and valor, the Americans would have been trapped in an inescapable delay which would have materially aided the enemy and caused many deaths. As a result Sergeant Holsclaw was awarded one of three Bronze Stars he received while in the service.

His first citation was given by Four Star General Mark Clarke who was the commanding General for all of the Italian Region. While serving in North Africa and fighting the Germans, Irvin was in one of many battles in Cozmarine, North Africa. The Americans came under tremendous gun fire at a pass (valley) where the Germans had a very large advantage. While in battle, Irvin saw a soldier running towards his tank and being fired upon. Irvin maneuvered his tank were he could straddle the soldier. Once over the soldier, Irvin opened the escape hatch on the bottom of the tank and pulled the injured soldier into the tank to safety. Once in the tank they turned and got out of danger. The soldier had been running on two compound fractured feet, where his feet were turned out, and he was literally running on his ankles. His life was saved as a result of Irvin's actions and Sergeant Holsclaw received his second Bronze Star as a result. Irvin's overseas tour ended on October 21,1944, when he departed Europe. He arrived back in the United States on November 7, 1944.

Some of this information was received from the Defense Department records and personal conversations Irvin had with his brother Jim Holsclaw when he returned from Europe, There were several times I (Gary Metzger - Irvin's son-in-law), had tried to talk to him about his war experiences. Irvin continually said, "War is terrible". He said he saw so many men blown apart, missing limbs and killed that he did not like to talk about the subject. His brother Jim made the same statements and said this was a part of Irvin's life he would rather have forgotten. Too much pain, too much heartache, destruction everywhere and too much death. This is what Irvin and others witnessed in this bloody war.

After 91 years of life, Irvin passed away to be with our Lord and Father on Sunday, January 8, 2012. It was a pleasure to have known Staff Sergeant Irvin Holsclaw and to have married his daughter Diana Lynn Holsclaw. It was actions and bravery that he and others showed that allows America to have the freedoms we enjoy today. Thank you, Irvin, and to all the military personnel who have given their time and lives to allow this country to be The Home of The Free.

Brother Kessinger was born 26th Day of July 1925 in Louisville KY, He was received his Entered Apprentice Degree on the 10th Day of May 153 He was passed the degree of Fellow Craft On the 10th Day of November 1953, and raised to the Sublime degree of Master Mason on the 12th Day of February 1954, all in Suburban Lodge #740 F&AM. He was a faithful member for 58 years, having Completed the designs upon his trestle board Brother Kessinger laid down the working tools of His busy life and entered that celestial Lodge Above on the 22nd Day of December 2012 He is sadly missed Children other family members and many friends. Brother Jones was born 22nd Day of February 1922 in Saurel County Kentucky. He was received his Entered Apprentice Degree on the 25th Day of July 1952 He was passed the degree of Fellow Craft On the 12th Day of September 1952, and raised to the Sublime degree of Master Mason on the 17th Day of October 1952, all in Plumb Lodge #862 F&AM and Affiliated to Suburban Lodge #740 F&AM on the 17th Day of October 1968. He was a faithful member for 59, years, having Completed the designs upon his trestle board Brother Jones laid down the working tools of His busy life and entered that celestial Lodge Above on the 5th Day of December 2011. Brother Smith was born 6th Day of December 1942 in Taylor County KY, He was received his Entered Apprentice Degree on the 12th Day of March 1981 He was passed the degree of Fellow Craft On the 16th Day of April 1981, and raised to the Sublime degree of Master Mason on the 28th Day of May 1981, all in Suburban Lodge #740 F&AM. He was a faithful member for 30, years, having Completed the designs upon his trestle board Brother Smith laid down the working tools of His busy life and entered that celestial Lodge Above on the 23rd Day of November 2011 He is sadly missed Wife and Children other family members and many friends. Brother Guy was born January 29, 1927 Jeffersonville IN. He received his Entered Apprentice September 24th 1953, and was passed to the degree of a Fellow Craft on November 17th, 1953, and Raised to the sublime degree of a Master Mason on December, 1953, all in Suburban Lodge #740 F&AM where he was a faithful member for 58, years having completing the designs upon his Trestle board, Brother Guy laid down the working tools of his busy life and entered that Celestial Lodge above on September 3rd, 2011. Brother Morgeson was born 7th Day of December 1918 in Bradsfordsville, Kentucky He was received his Entered Apprentice Degree on the 8th Day of May 1952 He was passed the degree of Fellow Craft On the 12th Day of June 1952, and raised to the Sublime degree of Master Mason on the 17th Day of July1952, all in Suburban Lodge #740 F&AM He was a member For 59 Years. having Completed the designs upon

Brother Buddy was born 61 years ago in Richwood, West Virginia. Brother Binford was born 13th Day of October 1929 in Louisville KY, He was received his Entered Apprentice Degree on the 14th Day of January 1993 He was passed the degree of Fellow Craft On the 11th Day of February 1993, and raised to the Sublime degree of Master Mason on the 20th Day of March 1993, all in Suburban Lodge #740 F&AM. Brother Byrd was born 22nd Day of May 1931 in Millerstown, Indiana He was received his Entered Apprentice Degree on the 6th Day of June 1963 He was passed the degree of Fellow Craft On the 19th Day of September 1963, and raised to the Sublime degree of Master Mason on the 17th Day of October 1953, all in Indiana Lodge #39 F&AM. Brother Tipton was born on the 11th November 1924 in Etowan, TN. Brother Crockett was born on the 8th August 1917 in Franklin TN. Brother John was born 11th Day of October 1937 in Barboursville, Kentucky. He was received his Entered Apprentice Degree on the 12th Day of April 1977 He was passed the degree of Fellow Craft On the 4th Day of June 1977, and raised to the Sublime degree of Master Mason on the 16th Day of July 1977, all in Shively Lodge #951 F&AM. He affiliated to Suburban Lodge #740 F&AM in Louisville. On the 15th Day of May 1993. Brother John was a faithful member for 32, years, having Completed the designs upon his trestle board Brother John laid down the working tools of His busy life and entered that celestial Lodge Above on the 15th Day of October 2009. Brother Mercer was born on the 11th Day of December 1918 in Graham Kentucky He was received his Entered Apprentice Degree on the 10th Day of September 1953, He was passed the degree of Fellow Craft On the 11th Day of February 1954, and raised to the The Sublime degree of Master Mason on the 15th Day of April 1953, all in Suburban Lodge740 F&AM. Brother Kaufman was born in Louisville 89 years Ago on March 7th 1920.
