GREETINGS FROM THE EAST

I have recently arrived back from the Grand Masters Annual Communication. This was a very long trip for me but very much worth my time. It was a wealth of knowledge seeing the Grand Lodge at it's best. One of the highlights for me was seeing Worshipful Brother Hugger Peteet be bestowed the great honor of being appointed to the position of District Deputy Grand Master of the 29th Masonic District. I was also very proud to see Right Worshipful Hugger Peteet with his shiny new jewels. And the 29th Masonic District was very well represented in Greenville.

Isn't it a pleasure to see the transformation of our wonderful lodge. - To see it grow to be the nicest lodge in the 29th Masonic District. Thanks to all the Brothers who have made this happen (and yes I will let you remain nameless!).

As you know our fundraiser scheduled for May 17th is fast approaching. So please be willing to assist any way you can when called upon. Let's all remember strength is in numbers and even though our numbers are small at times we achieve great things together. And the reason that we accomplish so much for our community that we serve, from feeding the hungry to providing coats on their backs and education for higher learning, is because we work together as a Brotherhood. Remember we don't achieve these wonderful things by second guessing and undercutting lodge decisions as it is better to speak up and be heard. We all have a chance for discussion so use time wisely.

I would like to also ask that each of you reflect on the losses that the lodge has suffered this year. I also want you to keep those who are sick and bereaved in our lodge and other lodges in your thoughts and prayers. Please pray frequent, pray often and let Peace and Harmony prevail.

To the Officers of PI 409, I would like to meet before the meeting or talk between now and Thursday regarding receiving our new District Deputy Grand Master for an official visit. Let's look sharp and show our heartfelt appreciation for one of our Brothers great achievements. And remember it is now Right Worshipful Hugger.

Fraternally, Jeff Pelasara, WM

Wages from the West

May brings us the beginning of summer and also the beginning of the tourist season. With the arrival of the crowds, we hope to be able to use the increased traffic to help us raise money during our 2nd Taylor Marie-Biehl Barbecue. It will be held on May 17th at the Bi-lo in Litchfield. We will need volunteers to help with the preparations, serving and delivery of the dinner plates. Contact any of the officers and we will direct you to the appropriate handlers. Please support this worthy cause and help us make this an annual success that we can be proud of.

Also this month, we will be voting on our selections for the two annual scholarships the lodge awards each year. Your attendance at our regular meeting on May 1st is encouraged so that your voice in this matter can be heard.

Of course I would be remiss if I did not mention our Golf Tournament to be held at Caledonia Golf Course on August 23rd. Meal tickets will be available at the end of May, so please gather support and sell some of these great deals on some good food. At $10 each they are a steal. Also please help us round up some hole sponsors and Prizes. Our Master has dedicated himself to making this a banner year for charity donations, so help him help our community by being a part of this fundraiser as well as the others we have planned.

POTS Brother Steve/SW

From the Secretary:

2008 Dues are $85.00 and became due January 1st - please submit.

I am deeply honored to have been appointed as your DDGM by Most Worshipful Brother Gerald L. Carver, Grand Master of Masons in SC. I plan to do my absolute best to serve you and the 29th District. If anyone has suggestions, please talk to me about them.

Please don’t forget that we need Brothers to step up and take over the many degree parts which Col Bill always did. Some of them are King Solomon, FC Wages and the FC Lecture
