Wages from the West
With the turning of the month came a sight in our Lodge that has not been seen in any Lodge in our District. On the wall behind our illustrious Secretary were the flags of every Lodge in our District and the Traveling Gavel. Those that participated in the raids should be very proud of our accomplishments and those that could not should take a lesson from them. We as Masons are taught that Brotherhood is a key to our society, and there was definitely Brotherhood displayed in our Lodge in Jan. Because of our efforts, our Feb stated meeting was attended by 90 Brothers, 60 visitors and 30 of our own. Never in my short Masonic life have I seen such an outpouring of "Brotherly Love and Affection". We intend to keep it going the rest of this year. We met many Brothers whom we only knew by name or titles.
The Golf Committee has already been hard at work in the planning stage for our big fund raising Tournament. All members are urged to do their part this year to make this a special event. As most of you already know, we lost our brother WB Tommy Springfield this month. Tommy was instrumental in laying the basis for our annual Golf tournament and ran it for more than a decade. In memory of his selfless dedication to our Lodge, I ask all of you to commit some time and effort to the success of this years outing. If all members would just sell or buy one hole sponsorship, it would put us over the top for what we would be able to do for the community. After all my Brothers, isn't that why we are here?
The Charity Committee is also hard at work planning some community projects that will put our name out as a serious community supporter. If you can put in the time, please let me or any other officers know what you can or would like to contribute. We are hoping to maybe adopt a needy family with children this year and give them a Christmas they won’t soon forget. Just imagine the smile on those young children’s faces when they come down the stairs expecting the same old piece of coal that they have been getting only to find a tree loaded with presents under it. Think back on your childhood and the excitement of Christmas. It doesn't take much to make a difference to someone who has or who is expecting nothing. Help us help those kids, brothers. The best times in our lives are when we can make someone else’s life better.
Those brothers that can, are invited to join us in Georgetown on the 4th of March for Winyah 40’s stated meeting. The Grand Master of SC will be there and we would like to help our Georgetown Brothers give him a hearty welcome. WB Phillip Cusick is organizing this effort so please get in touch with him as soon as possible.
Fraternally Yours,
Bro. Steve Bosch |
