The Conscience and Brain of the Philippine
Revolution
an excerpt from Talambuhay ng mga
Bayani by Rene Alba
Born of a poor
family, Apolinario Mabini was always studious. He was always
sad and silent and liked to sit alone to meditate.
Mabini studied at San Juan de Letran
where he got his Bachelor of Arts degree and Professor of
Latin. He also finished Law. He was a spokesman of the
Congress, and a notary public.
In early 1896, he contracted a severe
fever which paralyzed him for the rest of his life. He was
later called the Sublime Paralytic.
Mabini was most active in the revolution
in 1898, when he became the chief adviser of Gen. Aguinaldo
during the revolution. He drafted decrees and proposed a
constitution for the Philippine Republic. He made the plans
for the revolutionary government.
In 1899, he was captured by the Americans
but was later set free. In 1901, he was exiled to Guam but
returned to the Philippines in 1903 after agreeing to take
an oath of allegiance to the US. He took his oath on
February 26, 1903 before the Collector of Customs.
During his captivity, he wrote "The Rise
and Fall of the Philippine Republic". After his release on
September 23, 1900 he lived in Nagtahan, Manila where he
wrote for local newspapers. On January 5, 1901 he was exiled
to Guam because of his articles notably "El Semil de
Alejandro" in El Liberal.
On May 13, 1903, he died of cholera in
Manila.

Roman Catholic Statement About The Order of
DeMolay
based from the
50th Anniversary Pilgrimage to Europe
Quite often, members of DeMolay have
experienced a sort of "communication gap" between members of
the Catholic faith and the Order of DeMolay. The following
statement was made in 1969 on the occasion of the 5Oth
Anniversary Pilgrimage to Europe. You may find it helpful in
explaining the possibility of a young man of the Catholic
faith in wanting to petition a DeMolay Chapter.
While it is a well known fact that the
Order of DeMolay has no religious requirements for
membership except a belief in God, oftentimes in the past,
officials of particular religions have objected to their
members being affiliated with DeMolay. Some of the strongest
objections in this regard have come from Catholic officials,
however their objections to DeMolay have gradually lessened
over the years, and then a major breakthrough occurred in
1969.

Pope Called On To Apologise
For Fatal 700-Year-Old Decree
based on a
Hong Kong based newsppaper - The Independent
The secretive and once-persecuted Knights
Templar order is moving to right history’s wrongs, writes
Paul Kelbie
Seven hundred years after they were
denounced as heretics and condemned to torture and death,
the Knights Templar are calling for a public apology.
The secretive organization which traces
its roots back to the Christian crusaders of medieval times,
has written to Pope John Paul II requesting the Vatican
officially atone for the persecution of their Order.
A little more than two years away from
the 700th Anniversary of the day that “The Poor Soldiers of
Christ and the Temple of Solomon” ceased to exist –
officially at least – the secretive order that still has
thousands of members thinks it’s time for reconcialition
with the Catholic Church.
