FLORIDA MASONIC HISTORY BOOKS DONATED TO LEESBURG LIBRARY

      W+ M+ Richard Ecott (left) along with  R+W+ Joe Price (right, PM - PDDGM) presented to the Director of the Leesburg Public Library the five volume set of the Florida Masonic History.

     This set of five books was given to the Lodge by R+H+ Dennis Ricker (PM) for presentation to the Leesburg Public Library by our Lodge.

LEESBURG LODGE NO. 58 LAYS CORNERSTONE AND DONATES FLAG POLE TO THE LEESBURG PUBLIC LIBRARY

      The Flag Pole raising at New City Library was attended by a number of Brethren of the Lodge. Once the Flag Pole was raised and secured in position, Brethren of the Lodge raised "Old Glory".

      The ceremonial flag, which had been flown over the United States Capitol on January 15th, 2008 , our 140th Anniversary date, was lowered, put into a glass display case and presented to the City Library.

      The flag, U.S. Capitol Certificate and acknowledgement of our donation is on display just inside Libraries main entrance doors.

A SPECIAL LADY

      Since 1922 the Dunstan family have been a  part of the foundation of Leesburg Lodge. Mrs. Jeanette Dunstan has for years decorated the dining room for each Sunday Dinner and could be found cheerfully greeting our members and guests when they arrived. Mrs. Dunstan has moved away and will surely missed.

THE KITCHEN CREW

      Second Sunday Dinners, Tuesday morning fellowship breakfasts, collations after the meetings and special events at the Lodge. Our Brothers are ready willing and able to feed.

      A lot of work went into the remodeling of the kitchen in 2008 and 2009. New cabinets, countertops, addition of a French style cooking stove, pass through commercial refrigerator, stainless steel pot rack, new hot water heater, new dishwasher and paint. You can do some cooking in this kitchen.

(Left)  When the kitchen crew is not hard at work inside in the kitchen, then it's outside to the BBQ area where various smoked meats are prepared.

(Right) We're not to sure about this, but, we've been told that smoke and lightning were seen coming from the BBQ area one Sunday morning before dinner.

(Right) It's a fellowship breakfast every Tuesday morning. An hour or so of good food and brotherly fellowship.

      Leesburg Lodge No. 58 is proud to have been selected as the location for a number of Grand Masters official visitations to the 18th Masonic District of Florida over the years.

      Our dining room is available to members of our Lodge for various events.

       The photos here were from Valentines Day 2009 when several members of the Lodge and their church men's group held a Valentines Day "Sweetheart Dinner" in the dining room.

        Dinner was prepared and served by other Lodge Brothers.

WOW what a great time was had at this years Second Sunday March Dinner which had a St. Patrick's day Theme.

For our Weekly Tuesday Breakfasts and Monthly Second Sunday Dinners it's a 4:00am wakeup, at the Lodge by 5:00am and the cooking and preparations begin.  The Senior Deacon caught the Junior Warden resting his eyes a wee bit just before our guests arrived.

60 YEAR MASON

(Left)  On February 19th, 2009, Illustrious Garth Phillips, Secretary, presented Brother Thomas M. Coppedge, Jr. his 60 Year Florida Masonic Certification and Masonic pin at his home in Orlando. He was pleased with the presentation and showed Garth his 50 and 55 Year Certificates prominently displayed in his home.

55 YEAR SERVICE AWARD

(Right)   Brother Richard Newman received a 55 Year Service Award  from the Grand Lodge of Florida at our December 15th meeting from W.: Richard Ecott. Brother Newman was raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason on November 30th, 1954.

      A number of our Lodge members are associated with various High 12 Associations.

These photos were taken when the Hawthorne High 12 brought donations to the Florida Masonic Home.

MASONIC HOME DISTRICT VISIT

      On Sunday, July 19th, 2009 Brethren of  Leesburg Lodge and their ladies along with Brethren and their ladies of all the Lodges of the 18th Masonic District visited the Masonic Home.

      The visit arranged by R+W+ Gary Smith included Sunday Service at the home, a guided tour of the home, attending the Home Corporate Board Meeting and an outstanding lunch with the home residents.

      R+ W+ Gary Smith also arranged for a Bluegrass band to entertain all during lunch.

      "Gus's Limo" (right), an air conditioned converted school bus that has all the comforts of home for a camel and his loyal herders.

      When the 18th Masonic District of Florida needed a new parade float, Leesburg Brother Randy Jesmok was up to the task.

It was a cold and rainy day but these Brothers and Sisters came out and participated in the annual City of Eustis "GeorgeFest" Parade honoring President and Mason George Washington.

What a way to start the Day Eustis Lodge served a Steak & Egg Breakfast, Biscuits, Gravy and lots of hot coffee before the float decorations began.

Local Lodges, Scottish Rite, Shrine, Eastern Star and York Rite Knights Templar lead by Rite Eminent Grand Commander Ideal Baldoni II were represented.

A JOB WELL DONE

W.: M.: Richard Ecott (2009) presented to Ms. Tonda Maurer a check on behalf of the Lodge Brethern for work she preformed on updating our Lodges website. Ms. Maurer Thanked the Lodge Brothers in attendance and stated the money would be applied to her educational costs at Lake Sumter Community College where she is attending.

ADOPT-A-HIGHWAY PROGRAM

Leesburg Lodge particpates in the Florida Department of Transportation "Adopt-A-Highway" program. Members quarterly meet at the Lodge and pick to trash along a designated section of highway. A brunch is served at the lodge afterwards. Pictured is Brother Dean Sever with the sign installed by Florida DOT recognizing the Lodges efforts.

Brother Mike Mason was selected as Leesburg's Mason of the Year, Brother Mason along with Lady Amy own and operate Leesburg printing who publish our monthly Trestle Board. Mike and Amy are active with their daughters school and a number of civic and private organizations which benefit our community.

Pastor James P. Holden of Christ United methodist Church of Leesburg was selected as the Minister of the Year. The vision of this church is to be a place which you can live your faith. A place where your faith is strengthened in worship, deepened through study, enriched in service, and shared with your neighbor, community and the world.

PARAMEDICS OF THE YEAR 2009

Leesburg Lodge selected Paramedic Menandre Muscadin and EMT Kristy Stephens Unit 311 of Lake-Sumter Medical Services as our Paramedics of the Year for 2009. The selection process was done by their peers. Presenting the award was 2009 W.: M.: Richard Ecott and EMS Executive Director and Brother Jim Judge.

The Lake County Sheriff's Office Street Crimes Unit was selected as our Law Enforcement Officers of the Year for 2009. Deputies receiving the award are Steve Harden, Corporal Doug Hampton, Corporal Phil Buffington, Corporal Phil Pendergrass, Deputy Shawn Vance and Deputy A. J. Willits.
