Dear Friend, Since its beginning at Chicago's Illinois Masonic Medical Center in 1970, the Grotto's Dentistry for Handicapped Children program has steadily grown into one of the finest philanthropic efforts in all of Masonry. From a small start, we are now at a point where about $750,000 is paid out each year to dentists all over the United States and Canada so that special needs children can receive their services at no cost to their often financially strapped families. For those of you that may be unaware, the Grottoes of North America is a 110 year old appendent body made up of over 155 local Grottoes in almost every state. Membership is open to any regular Master Mason in good standing, and there are about 20,000 prophets nationwide. Effendi Grotto's membership comes from several Wisconsin and Illinois lodges. One of the ways that the dental program
is built is by the purchase of "Enchanted Lanterns" by
individuals or groups. Each lantern signifies a donation of $50.00. All money donated is
permanently deposited into the national foundation, and only the interest is used. This
ensures that every gift will continue to brighten children's smiles forever.
We can send you a brochure on the program in case you know of a child with cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, myasthenia gravis, or is mentally challanged that could benefit from our services. Whether you choose to purchase one lantern, ten lanterns, or cannot participate at this time, we thank you for your consideration. Sincerely, |
