FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 2008 ABBOTT SCHOLARSHIPS ANNOUNCED
The 32º Masons of the Valley of Cambridge
have announced the award of Abbott Scholarships to Sara Feldner, Staton Hysell,
Scott Lucas, Janielle McKee, Nicholas Warnock, Katie Weaver, and Kasandra
Williams. The announcement was made
by the Valley’s Scholarship Chairman, Don Ullmann of Belle Valley.
“Abbott Scholarships are awarded to qualified students in recognition
of scholastic and all-around achievement,” Ullmann commented.
“Our goal is to help young people fulfill their career goals by
assisting them financially as they further their education.
Freemasonry has historically been dedicated to the importance of
education in our society and these scholarships are another indication of
continuing Masonic commitment.” Other
members of the Scholarship committee are Art Clemenson and Rob Moorehead, Jr. Sara Feldner is a
graduate of John Glenn High School and will attend Bethany College where she
plans to major in accounting. She is
the daughter of Nancy and Earl Feldner of Cambridge and the granddaughter of
Freddie Calixte. Staton Hysell is a
graduate of Waterford High School and will attend West Virginia University where
he plans to major in engineering. He
is the son of Jacqueline and Kelly Hysell of Waterford and the grandson of
Robert McCutcheon. Scott Lucas is a
graduate of Brooke High School, is attending West Virginia Northern Community
College and will be attending the University of Colorado where he plans to major
in accounting. He is the son of
Brenda and Jeffrey Lucas of Follansbee, West Virginia and the grandson of Marlyn
Cunningham. Janielle McKee is
a graduate of Cambridge High School and is attending The Ohio State University
where she is majoring in Early Childhood Education.
She is the daughter of Debbie and Mike McKee of Cambridge. Nicholas Warnock
is a graduate of Buckeye Trail High School and will attend Kent State University
where he plans to major in photo illustrations.
He is the son of Susan Rome and Richard Warnock and the grandson of
Kenneth Warnock. Katie Weaver is a
graduate of Crooksville High School and will attend Mount Vernon Nazarene
University where she plans to major in Early Childhood Education.
She is the daughter of Mary Ann and Kevin Weaver of Crooksville and the
granddaughter of the late Charles Weaver. Kasandra Williams
is a graduate of Fort Frye High School and is attending Hocking College where
she is majoring in Music Production. She
is the daughter of Lorry and David Williams of Lowell and the late Archie
Williams. Abbott Scholarships are given to the children
of 32º Masonic families, to young people who have been active in
Masonic-related organizations such as DeMolay, Rainbow and Job’s Daughters,
and to graduates of the 32º Masonic Learning Centers for Children.
The grants are made throughout the fifteen-state Northern Masonic
Jurisdiction and will total $450,000 for the 2008-2009 academic period
