Peninsula Chapter No.85 O.E.S.

About Us

In 1946 A group of Freemasons and there wife's got together, and decided to form an O.E.S. Chapter. At that time Redcliffe was pretty isolated from Brisbane and entertainment left a bit to be desired. And after many meetings it all came together.
Peninsula Chapter was Instuted on 29th March 1947 in The Windsor School of Arts, Windsor, Brisbane by The Worthy District Grand Patron Bro Walter Simpson. The Worthy District Grand Matron Sis Elizabeth Mullin then carried out the Ceremony of Installation. It is worth noting that Brisbane District Grand Chapter was itself only Instituted the Saturday before. From the April meeting Peninsula Chapter has meet in the Woody point Hall Woody Point on the Redcliffe Peninsula north of Brisbane. We have been meeting in the same hall for a little over 53 years. One of the highlights in the early days was a visit from the most worthy Grand Matron and Patron of The Supreme Grand Chapter of Scotland then our governing body. The Chapter has worked to raise money for charity over the years as well as have a lot of good times.

In Queensland we also have The Grand Chapter of Queensland and five District Grand Chapters. Peninsula is under The Brisbane District Grand Chapter which was the first in Queensland being Instituted in 1948.

The Sisters wear long white frocks and the men black dinner suits and black tie in winter, in summer the men can wear black pants ,white shirt long sleeve, black tie and black cumberbun this is because it gets very hot in summer in this part of the world.
