Text Box: Salopian Lodge of Charity 117 meets in the Crewe Street Masonic Hall (formerly St Michael’s Church) not far from Shrewsbury’s Fire Station. DIRECTIONS TO CREWE STREET: FROM TOWN CENTRE From the town end of the Welsh Bridge, keep the river on your left and the town on your right, and stay in the left lane. Bear left past the lights, then get into the right hand lane and turn right under the railway bridge. Turn immediately left. After a petrol station (about 400 yards) turn left into Crewe Street. A high stone wall surrounds the Hall. FROM THE NORTH/NORTH EAST head into town from the A49/A53 via Harlescott or the by-pass (B 5062 Newport road roundabout) until you reach the first large roundabout (near Morrison’s). Continue straight on towards town. Shortly (about 200 yards) after crossing a mini-roundabout, the road begins to rise after passing a bus depot. Take the next right, then turn immediately left into Crewe Street. The Hall is surrounded by a fairly high stone wall on the left. The entrance has iron Masonic gates. FROM THE NORTH (via WREXHAM or from WALES) The easiest (though longer) method is to follow the new by-pass all the way around Shrewsbury. The Newport roundabout is the first roundabout after the M54 roundabout - follow instructions then as above. Eight miles shorter - but more adventurous - is to leave the by-pass towards the Town Centre at the B438 Montgomery roundabout, past the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. Straight across the next roundabout, this road brings you eventually to the Frankwell roundabout; leave at the opposite corner for the town centre. Swing right across the Welsh Bridge, then follow Town Centre instructions above. FROM THE EAST from the M54/A5 turn right at the first roundabout; the next is the Newport road roundabout (see above for remaining directions).
